If you use eComStation then you don't need this program. QuickFix is one
method of applying OS/2 fixpacks ...
Current released version: QuickFix 1.2.3
Alpha version: QuickFix 1.3
New features:Disk extractor source code
Improved support for OS/2 version 3.0. Of course it still works for OS/2 4.0.
Can handle updates to MPTS, TCP/IP, LAN Requestor/LAN Server as well as to the base operating system.
Interactive application (SERVICE) is the default but unattended application (FSERVICE) is still available.
Limitations:
FSERVICE not guaranteed to work for anything except the base operating system.
Does not test for prerequisites. For example, if you apply MPTS fixpack 8425 you must have 8421 or 8423 already applied. QuickFix does not (and never will) check for such conditions.
There's nothing stopping you from unpacking multiple products and trying to service them all at once. You shouldn't do that but this version of QuickFix won't protect you against yourself in this matter.
If you are applying OS/2 fixpack 12, you need to do a second run with the device driver disk images. Neither SERVICE nor FSERVICE will handle both at once. It is far too complex to make QuickFix handle that automatically.
The FIXT141.DSK file distributed with all the network subsystem fixpacks is a compressed image and the current incarnation of DskXtrct can't handle it. I'm going to be taking over maintenance of that program and so that may change but in the meantime use CS_141.EXE which contains exactly the same files.
The source code for DskXtrct has
been released under the GNU General Public Licence.
